Surveillance Officer (Trading)

Project scope:

• Ensuring effective compliance systems and controls and maintaining a strong and ethical compliance culture across the offices in Poland
• Acting as the prominent Compliance contact point for trading staff across the Poland offices, ensuring a strong compliance culture and providing on-the-ground compliance guidance and training as necessary
• Developing and enhancing systems and controls to ensure compliance with company's policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, in particular, the Conduct Rules and the Trading Code of Conduct
• Building and maintaining relationships and ensuring strong communication channels between the Risk & Compliance teams and Poland trading staff
• Conducting real-time market surveillance and monitoring of trading activity, undertaking enquiries/reviews as necessary and escalating expediently any anomalous activity
• Investigating and responding to trading activity enquiries from Market Surveillance, exchanges and regulators
• Conducting investigations into market conduct and/or internal control breaches and remedying potential systems and controls weaknesses and notifying Senior Management as appropriate
• Administering online and classroom-based conduct training to local staff, both for new recruits and existing staff on an ongoing basis
• Providing coverage as required to the Market Surveillance team, using automated alerts and other tools to monitor transactions conducted by the traders and ensuring that all breaches identified are escalated promptly
• Maintaining an awareness of regulatory developments in respect of market abuse and overall trading and surveillance landscape

Competence demands:

• Experience of working within the financial industry, with good knowledge of financial markets and products (ideally exchange-traded derivatives) and the trading environment
• Good technical knowledge of the applicable regulations and exchange trading rules, in particular, those concerned with market conduct and the market abuse regime
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships
• Confidence and technical ability to challenge and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Able to support, take ownership and challenge appropriately
• Fluent in Polish and English; Russian speaking advantageous
